OK island is the nom de plume of Marissa (she/her), a self- and community-taught multidisciplinary artist and muralist who is currently based in Kjipuktuk/Halifax, Nova Scotia. She primarily works in block printing, digital illustration, gouache, and watercolour, but also delights in creative writing, photography, and needle felting. Her art practice is intimately influenced by her background in social work, and OK island serves as a space for self-reflection, advocacy, and community building.
